Alex had lots of family and friends over to help celebrate his birthday. Sadly he wasn't feeling the best between teething, recovering from 1 year shots, and having a diaper rash because it turns out he is sensitive to pears. Still he enjoyed saying hi to everyone and having some birthday cake before going down for a nap.
Alex is finding his voice! While the only words he says are "ma ma" and "da da" he tries to say "buh bye" and has become very vocal especially during stroller rides for some reason.
Alex has figured out how to clap and wave although he usually won't do his tricks on demand.
Alex had his one year photos taken by the River Walk in Baraboo. He did a great job and we got some super cute ones! He loved the pine cones that were scattered all over the ground.
Alex has developed a very serious scowl that he uses it mainly when he is told "no" or when someone he doesn't know talks to or holds him. He still doesn't cry or fuss much but if looks could kill...
Alex loves to eat and we still haven't found anything he doesn't like. Lately he has been a bottomless pit and keeps eating until we finally have to cut him off. Must be a growth spurt!
Alex will now stand on his own for a few seconds but still has no interest in walking. Instead he continues to hone his climbing skills which are getting quite impressive. The other day I turned around to find him sitting on top of the dining room table.
Alex loves our chickens, he likes to watch them and try to catch them. Once in a while they actually let him pet them for a second before rushing off to safety.

April 8, 2015 (1 Year!!!)
Alex is one year old today!!! I'm torn between thinking the past year flew by and also not being able to remember life without Alex. His favorite part of his birthday so far has been playing with balloons but then again he hasn't had his cake yet!
For Easter, Alex tagged along to a couple egg hunts and had his picture taken somewhat reluctantly with the Easter bunny. He napped through Sunday morning Easter service then enjoyed spending the day with family. The day wrapped up with finding a surprise basket filled with goodies, his favorite of which was his stuffed frog and first words book.
Alex is a master climber and creatively uses laundry baskets and boxes as stools to get up on dining room chairs and the couch.
Alex loves being outside, he crawls around in the yard exploring and especially likes playing with sticks, swinging, climbing in the sand box, and eating mud.
Alex loves to be bounced, twirled, and tossed in the air. He is able to climb onto his bouncing zebra by himself and hold on now, he can really get bouncing!
Some of Alex's favorite things to do include going down slides, brushing his teeth, climbing, pulling books off the book shelf, emptying the clothes in his dresser drawers, taking the dvds out of their drawer, and getting into the kitchen cabinets.
Alex is a very happy and easy going baby. He loves to smile and giggle and is very quiet and observant when we are out and about.
Alex is a big eater. Some of his favorite foods are any fruit, cheerios, bread, broccoli, yogurt, and tator tot casserole.
Alex has zero interest in standing or walking on his own but is a very speedy crawler and can walk well when holding on to furniture or your hand.
Alex has 5 teeth (3 on top, 2 on bottom) Teething has been rough for him with many long nights and lots of drool, swollen gums, and fussiness.
Alex has only slept all the way through the night once. On good nights he only wakes one time to eat and sleeps in until 6am, on rough nights he wakes 3+times for his nuk, once for a feeding, and gets up at 5am.
Alex has a really cute scowl that he uses whenever he gets told no or talked to in a stern voice, he nods his head down and then looks up at you through furrowed eye brows.

March 8, 2015 (11 Months)
Alex is 11 months old! It is ridiculous how quickly the months pass, I wish I could slow time down!!!
Alex continues to be a really good natured, content, easily entertained, and happy baby. He loves to be held and gives great big bear hugs and slobbery open mouthed kisses.
Alex is a super fast crawler, climbs stairs quickly, pulls himself up to standing on just about anything, walks along furniture like a pro, and walks behind push toys well although he hasn't figured out how to steer yet. He is yet to let go an stand on his own yet or try to take a step on his own.
Alex enjoys sensory play with oats, he likes to pick up a handful of oats and watch as they fall through his fingers. He also likes to pick up individual oats and inspect them closely.
We built a fort with tables and blankets and Alex had tons of fun crawling through with the big kids and playing peek a boo.
Alex loves playing in boxes or trying to do just about anything his big brother is doing.
Alex had a blast crawling through our balloon filled living room on Andrew's birthday.
Alex now has 3 teeth through including his bottom two middle and top middle right. The other 3 center teeth on top are all coming in at once. Teething has not been easy on him and there have been many rough nights. We are all hoping for relief soon!
Alex is looking more and more like his daddy everyday! Such handsome boys! :)

February 8, 2015 (10 Months)
Alex is 10 months old. Sadly today he is teething and miserable but we were able to get a little smile for his monthly photo.
Alex is quite a climber. He loves to climb over pillows and cushions and of course people. He has also mastered the stairs; he can now climb all the way to the top without stopping.
Alex loves being outside, he even got to go sledding a couple times.
Alex continues to love splashing around in the tub. Once in a while for a extra fun bath we paint in the tub. Alex usually gets painted on by his brother more than he actually paints but he still has fun with it.
Poor Alex has had a rough time with teething this past month. He still only has the bottom center teeth but the top ones are coming in hopefully sooner than later!
Alex is starting to "talk" more, his favorite phrases are "dadada" and "ging ging ging" He still is a really quite baby most of the time.

January 8, 2015 (9 Months)
Alex is 9 months old!
Poor Alex caught the stomach bug that made its way around our entire household over Christmas. We tried to make the most of it and still opened presents but the poor thing wasn't overly excited about it. Some highlights of his gifts included a picnic set, a toy phone, a lullabye teddy bear, and soft play food.
Alex has become quite a little Mama's boy and has started to experience some separation anxiety when Mommy leaves the room. He loves to be held and snuggled.
Alex still only has his 2 bottom center teeth but his top left lateral incisor is working on poking through.
Alex has mastered the art of cruising along furniture and is
now working on climbing the stairs. He can make it up about 4 steps before he starts
to fall backward, tries to turn around, or gives up and sits down.
Alex has a turtle night light that sings Twinkle Twinkle
Little Star as he falls asleep. I knew he liked it but didn’t realize how much
until I found him using it as a pillow one nap.
Alex loves to play, he gets a huge kick out of playing Peek-A-Boo especially with his big brother. He also really loves to be chased and crawls as fast as he can giggling all the way.
Alex absolutely loves bath time. If he is ever having a
fussy night all we have to do is give him a bath; he cheers up as soon as he
sees us filling the tub. He splashes around happily and especially loves running
water and bubbles.

Alex's menu now features finger foods including puffs, peas, cheese, tofu, avocado, banana slices, berries, and bread. He happily feeds himself while the rest of us eat our dinner.

December 8, 2014 (8 Months)
Alex is 8 Months old!!!
After mastering crawling, Alex quickly moved on to learning how to pull himself up to standing. All he wants to do is stand! He stands up every chance he gets and is starting to slowly cruise along furniture.
Despite the colder temps Alex still enjoys getting some fresh air outside.
Alex played with play dough for the first time, he wasn't too sure what he was supposed to do with it.
Alex loves to have his picture taken, whenever he sees the camera he gets a big smile!
Alex now has both his bottom front teeth, he was miserable for several days while they came in :(
